Rockup is the local messenger. An app to solve any local problem together with your neighbors. Rockup connects you to the people around you — the neighbors on your floor, your street, your block. Not through posts or feeds, but through live local chats tied to where you actually are.
Rockup is available to download and use worldwide. Since we are in the early launch stage, activity levels may vary depending on location. Some areas already have active chats, while others are just starting to grow. We’re continuously expanding and growing local communities - stay tuned for updates as Rockup becomes more active in more places.
You can invite other people using your referral link or QR code inside the app.
Group chats in Rockup are connected to real-world locations. You automatically enter a group chat when you are physically inside the area linked to that chat. When you enter an area, you instantly get access to the full chat history, including messages sent before you joined. When you leave the area, you automatically lose access to the chat. If you return to the same area later, you regain access again, along with the full message history.
If you leave the chat area, it will disappear from the chat list. However, there are two exceptions to this rule. First, if you pin the group chat, you will be able to keep chatting in it anywhere you go. Currently, you can pin 3 chats at the same time. Second, if you leave a message while in the chat area, you will retain a 2-hour read-only access to it. Read-only means you will keep receiving new messages, but will not be able to send any. To resume sending messages, you can return to the chat area, or pin the group chat.
Rockup uses your location to connect you to conversations happening in the places around you — your building, street, or neighborhood. Your exact location is never shared with other users. They can only see that you've joined the same chat — not your coordinates or precise position. You control location permissions through your phone settings, and if access is turned off, Rockup won't be able to show you nearby chats — but you can enable it anytime.
You can delete your account at any time from the app: go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm your choice once again in a pop-up window. Once your account is deleted, you will lose access to your chats, profile, and any in-app data linked to your account. If you need any help, you can always contact support from inside the app. If you would like to request deletion of your account from outside the app, please write a message to support@rockup.com with “Delete My Account” in the subject, and make sure to include your phone number in the body.
