Rockup is a messaging app designed for local communication between people who are in the same place or share the same environment. Rockup is built around practical communication - helping people find answers, solve everyday problems, and share local knowledge with others who are relevant to the situation.
Rockup is available to download and use worldwide. Since we are in the early launch stage, activity levels may vary depending on location. Some areas already have active chats, while others are just starting to grow. We’re continuously expanding and growing local communities - stay tuned for updates as Rockup becomes more active in more places.
You can invite other people using your referral link or QR code inside the app.
Group chats in Rockup are connected to real-world locations. You automatically enter a group chat when you are physically inside the area linked to that chat. When you enter an area, you instantly get access to the full chat history, including messages sent before you joined. When you leave the area, you automatically lose access to the chat. If you return to the same area later, you regain access again, along with the full message history.
After leaving the area, you can keep reading messages for up to 2 hours (if you’ve sent at least one message before). To continue sending messages outside the area, pin the chat.
Rocks are Rockup’s in-app currency. You can earn Rocks by being active in the app and helping the community grow. Rocks can be used to unlock certain features, such as buying pins, for example. You can earn Rocks by inviting others who sign up using your referral link or QR code, logging in regularly (for example, daily login streaks), participating in surveys, feedback sessions, or user interviews. This feature isn’t supported yet, but will be added on the next stages.
Rockup uses your location to help you join the right local chats. That’s how the app connects you to conversations happening in the places around you - like your building, street, neighborhood, campus, or venue. Important: your exact live location is not shared with other users. You control location permissions through your phone settings, and if location access is turned off, Rockup won’t be able to provide you with service.
You can delete your account at any time from the app: go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm your choice once again in a pop-up window. Once your account is deleted, you will lose access to your chats, profile, and any in-app data linked to your account. If you need any help, you can always contact support from inside the app. If you would like to request deletion of your account from outside the app, please write a message to support@rockup.com with “Delete My Account” in the subject, and make sure to include your phone number in the body.
